We have all been hearing and reading about how our current young generation lack knowledge because they do not read. Abedeen students have reading time. There are times they are taken to the library to do some reading. During these times, they are allowed to ask their teacher for meaning, pronunciation, etc. At other times, the teacher would read them stories. It is part of our effort to create a future generation of leaders who read.
Parents love sending their children all the way to their classroom. This is taken as an opportunity for us to have quick chats with the parents, to hear what they have to say about their children’s progress. Some, leave us in tears.
‘Teacher! I know how to change my clothes!!!!!’
Yes, with multiple exclamation marks because this student was ecstatic that she had mastered a new skill: Dressing up on her own.
The first 2 weeks was a struggle for her. Granted, as a 7 year old, mom and dad would always help her get dressed up. So when she had to get herself changed from school clothes to PE clothes, vice versa, she got very frustrated, and would end up crying to vent her frustrations out.
Over the past few days, I have had the chance to speak to several parents and I was enlightened by a consistent comment.
“My daughter/son has become more confident and has become more matured.”
“My child used be cry over small things. That has stopped since coming to Abedeen.”
Their children learned to grow up. As I was further chatting with the parents, we discovered that giving them a responsibility was the motivation. They were excited. They wanted to voice their ideas. They wanted to prove themselves.
Preparing students for an exam has never been this fun.
As the PT3 students gear up for the examinations just around the corner, they were asked to write their own poem. Enjoy!

Here is the story of one student who wanted be of help to those in need:
Almost a year ago, my parents decided to move me to a new school. I felt very sad because of the idea of leaving my friends and my old memories and going to a place that is totally new and which i knew nothing about. It wasn’t easy.
The last days of school was very difficult for me. Many stuff happened and I ended up losing my friends because they said I was betraying them by leaving. So I left the school with a lot of sadness that no one can imagine.
Every time there is a school or institution in Malaysia that teaches their students to clean up: sweep and mop the classroom, clean the toilet, wipe the table after meal, send the food back to the kitchen, these schools and institutions are automatically associated with the Japanese.
What if one day at work, you are humiliated or mistreated by your employer. One of the world wide well known rights is labour rights. So what is labour rights and what happens if we neglect it?
Labour rights are a group of legal rights or obtained rights having to do with the relationship between the worker and employer, usually obtained under worker and employer laws. They are important to create a safe working environment.
